Police and Fire Retirement

Safety Personnel (Police and Fire) have a separate retirement plan designed to help provide them with adequate income when they retire.  Participation requires a contribution of 8% of income into the plan for all employees enrolled with an additional contribution made by the City.

Details of the plan include:

  • Fully vested after 5 years of service
  • Benefits payable at normal, early, or delayed retirement
    • Normal retirement at 25 years
    • Early retirement at 20 years with a reduced benefit
