Are you researching or planning a solar panel installation on your home or business? Here are a few tips that may help you decide if they're a good solution:
- Does the HLD provide rebates or financial incentives for my installation? No. Rebates are not offered at this time.
- Does the HLD send money for any excess generation? No. Excess generation is calculated at the end of the usage year, and any overages are credited to the electric account.
- Does the HLD provide solar installation services? No. You must contact a licensed installer.
- Will I need a new electric meter? Yes. The HLD will work with your installer to provide and install a Net Revenue meter upon completion of the solar installation.
- Will I still have an electric bill if I have solar? Yes. Most solar installations do not generate enough electricity to power an entire home. The solar installation and utility power will work in tandem to provide electricity to your home.
- My solar installer told me that my installation would provide more of a reduction in my electric bill, why is my bill not as low as they said? Most solar installation companies are using the best-case scenario to sell their systems. Numbers and values provided are at peak operating conditions of solar installations instead of actual expected performance. Solar panels in the Mid-Atlantic area operate most efficiently from July to September and at a much lower efficiency rating from October through June due to the angle of the sun and available daylight hours.
