Turkey Donations Sought for Community Families

City of Hagerstown Parks & Recreation division is joining forces with other City departments, staff, and organizations in the community to provide a turkey for Christmas dinner to families with children in need. By donating a frozen turkey, some much needed assistance will be given to those with limited resources. At this time, turkey pledges are being accepted, as well as volunteers to help distribute turkeys. This Christmas Turkey Drive is a service to the neighborhood surrounding Wheaton Park. The goal is to collect 175 turkeys.

Donors are asked to drop off a frozen turkey on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Bethel Gardens, 356 Henry Avenue between the hours of 10am-4pm. Turkeys will be delivered door-to-door by Santa Claus and volunteers on Saturday, December 22, 2018 beginning at 11am. Only as many requests can be filled as turkeys are received, so help spread the Christmas cheer during this season of giving by making your frozen turkey donation pledge to City of Hagerstown Parks & Recreation Office at (301)739-8577 x 170 or emailing by December 18, 2018.

Volunteers are also needed to help distribute turkeys door-to-door on turkey drop-off day, Sat. Dec. 22, 2018 at 11am.
