2nd Annual Parks Fitness Challenge

Get Moving with Fun Adventures in our City Parks!

For Release – June 11, 2018

The City of Hagerstown Parks & Recreation is stepping into summer with the 2nd annual “Parks Fitness Challenge,” which includes an itinerary of seasonal bucket list activities to achieve in twelve of our City’s 21 beautiful parks, with awesome prizes to motivate and assist participants along the journey to fun and fitness!

Participants are challenged to choose from a list of activities in our parks, in which they must complete at least two challenges per week during the 10 week “Parks Fitness Challenge” program from June 1- August 11. Challenges include completing the walking trails at Hagerstown City Park, finding unique historical landmarks, using an ordinary park bench to get a full body workout, and kayaking on the Antietam Creek at Kiwanis Park!

Any age or any fitness level, from beginner to advanced, can participate. There are many adventures to choose from and participants can select activities that fit their interests best! The activities can be done in any order, at your own pace, by downloading the Adventure Map from the Parks Fitness Challenge website.

All registered participants will receive a free Parks Fitness Challenge pedometer, courtesy of the Washington County Health department.

Challengers have potential to win awesome prizes, such as passes to Six Flags America, Kings Dominion, Medieval Times, Skyzone, and Adventure Park USA. Plus, a Cedar Ridge Zip Line Excursion, an Amazon Fire Tablet, and more! Adults enroll at $10, and can sign up kids for $5! Registration closes June 20, the day before summer officially begins!
