Construction Advisory: Professional Court

Phase II of the widening and reconstruction of Professional Court is about to begin.  This work will include the construction of a new four lane road from Yale Drive to the bridge over Antietam Creek, and the widening of existing Professional Court to four lanes from the bridge to Eastern Blvd.  The City and Washington County are partnering on this important project.

During the next few months, the contractor will be installing new storm drainage pipes, excavating and widening the existing roadway, installing new curbs and sidewalks, and installing the final paving on the street.  Given the scope of the work to be performed, there will be a lot of construction activity in what is already a busy corridor.

Motorists approaching Professional Court will encounter construction equipment, traffic control devices, temporary lane closures and shifts, and other activities related to the project.  While the contractor will attempt to maintain access to all of the businesses along the street, there may be times when access will be temporarily denied due to the work along those businesses’ frontages.  The contractor will attempt to minimize the impact on both the businesses and their patrons.  Motorists entering the work zone are cautioned to remain alert, and to obey all traffic control devices and directions from flagmen.

This project is being managed by the Washington County Division of Engineering.  Any questions or concerns should be directed to their office at (240) 313-2420.  You may also contact this office at (301) 739-8577 ext. 125 if you have any questions about the construction.
