City Park Band Shell to Host Free Summer Events

Hagerstown City Park free summer events are scheduled at the band shell, including three Saturday summer concerts, and four Fridays of outdoor movies, offered with a provision of caution to interested participants: adherence to safe social distancing and CDC guidelines is required of all attendees.

Outdoor movies at City Park are projected onto a giant inflatable movie screen from the band shell stage. Movies start at dusk, around 8:45 pm. In the event of rain or weather-related cancellations, a decision will be made and posted by 4:00 pm the day of the scheduled movie.

  • August 21, The Lion King, PG (rain date: Aug. 25)

The City Park Summer Concert Series, featuring outstanding bands of a variety of music genres, performing live each Saturday night, July 18-Aug. 1, from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 pm. In the event of rain or weather-related cancellations, a decision will be made and posted by 6:00 pm the day of the scheduled concert, no rain dates are scheduled.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for preferred seating, and to position themselves and their family units throughout the green space of the park while maintaining and allowing safe social distance from other family groups; masks are encouraged for when social distancing is not possible, such as using the rest room or standing in line to purchase concessions.

The permanent seating at Peter Buys Band Shell in Hagerstown City Park which normally seats 250 adults, will be roped off for safe social distancing and will not be available at full capacity.

Concessions will be available for purchase from the concession stand, provided by Nena’s Curbside Café.

The City Park Summer Concert series is sponsored by Washington County Arts Council, in partnership with City of Hagerstown Parks & Recreation division. In the event of rain, concerts will be cancelled with no make-up date.
