Indoor Recreation Programs Fall/Winter 2018-2019

We have a fit for you and your family!  Indoor programs are held at the Fit Room at Fairgrounds Park (532 N. Cannon Ave. Hagerstown, MD 21740) unless otherwise noted in program description. Enroll online by clicking on the four-digit activity number listed below; hyperlinks take you to ActiveNet, our secure online registration portal. Registration is required for all series and one-day activities at least 24 hours in advance of program start date unless noted in program description; programs must meet minimum enrollment levels. Sign up early so we can be in touch with you regarding program-related updates. American Sign Language for Beginners

Intro to the basics of American Sign Language (ASL) for ages 10 years and up. Join instructor, Kim Rankin, for one hour classes for 8-weeks of fun learning. Series, $96.

Aikido for teens and adults provides a great learning experience in physical activity and mind-body connection with this Japanese form of self-defense and martial art. Aikido teaches us to respect and be helpful toward others, fostering personal and social responsibility through intro to principles of Aikido, which means "the way of the harmonious spirit." Co-ed, ages 13 years & up, led by Vernon Medieros. 6-weeks, $35. 
Art of Self Defense

This new program consists of mental (conflict resolution) and physical practices (self-defense skills) to gain experience in order to make goof decisions when being confronted by an aggressor. The program is a good method of exercise for healthy mind and body. Co-ed classes, ages 15 & up, led by Vernon Medieros. 6 weeks, $35. Drop-in, $10. 
AntiGravity Fitness Fundamentals
AntiGravity is an inspired mode of fitness centered around suspended hammocks. This exercise series is built on an art form to connect mind and body, take tension away, challenge you, and create a life that is lighter. Discover the benefits of decompression from inverting the body, building strength, conditioning, and advancing agility and coordination, as well as deep stretching and massage of muscles, tissue, and the body's spirit! A new program led by Lauren Alford, certified AntiGravity instructor and personal trainer. Ages 18 & up. Evening classes, one-hour: 6-week series, $78 or $15/class.

Belly Dance for Beginners

Belly Dancing is a great way to have fun, meet new people, and discover new muscles! This class will teach dance posture, isolations, shimmies, and traveling steps all combined into a short choreography. Belly dance inproves flexibility and is gentle on the knees and ankles, making it appropriate for individuals of all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels. No previous dance experience is necessary; for ages 16 years and up. Ages 8 years and older may attend with a supervising adult age 21 years or over. Led by Aleesa Banzhoff. 8-week series, $80.
