Employees receive three (3) personal days each calendar year. Employees hired prior to July 1st receive three (3) personal days. Employees hired after July 1st receive one (1) personal day their first year of employment.
The following description applies to regular, full-time active employees. Upon successful completion of six months of continuous service, a new employee will begin to earn vacation hours.
- 6 months through 5th year 10 vacation days
- 6th year anniversary 15 vacation days
- 10th year anniversary 20 vacation days
- 18th year and over 25 vacation days
Sick Leave & Family Leave
Employees earn sick leave on a monthly basis, at the rate of one day per months/12 days per year, up to a maximum accumulation of 145 days. Employees may also qualify for the sick leave conversion program if they use less than the allowed sick leave for the year. Employees who meet the requirement, may elect to convert up to 4 days of sick leave to vacation leave each year.
The objective of the City's family leave policy is to help employees balance the demands of the workplace with family responsibilities. The program allows the use of five (5) sick days per year to care for immediate family members who are ill, and provides up to 12 weeks of unpaid family or medical leave that can be used following the birth or adoption of a child; to care for a seriously ill child, spouse, or parent; or due to a serious illness which makes the employee unable to work subject to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
