The City produces, sponsors, and coordinates numerous events in downtown throughout the year, from arts and cultural programming to sports events. Many events take place in Hagerstown's thriving Arts & Entertainment District, which includes the Maryland Theatre, the Washington County Playhouse, several arts education organizations, and numerous restaurants and coffee shops!

Kick off summer in Downtown Hagerstown! Wind Down will close S. Potomac Street and feature local bands playing live music on the steps of The Maryland Theatre along with activities for all ages. MDWK Music and Market is the newest addition to Downtown Hagerstown's music and arts programming! The summer 2023 series will be held Wednesdays from mid-July until late August, and will feature live music, artisan vendors, food truck, and a beer garden.

Story Time with the Mayor | University Plaza | July 13, 2023 | 10am – 12pm
3 weeks of summertime fun for kids in University Plaza featuring live entertainment and story time.

Roller Fest | July 15, 2023 | 6pm – 9pm
Roller Fest transforms a space into an outdoor roller skating rink! Participants can either rent or bring their own skates and enjoy a night full of fun skating under the stars. Location TBA.

Halloween Block Party | S. Potomac Street | October 27, 2023 | 5:30pm – 8:30pm
Downtown Hagerstown’s Halloween block party! Simultaneous activities are planned to provide fun for all ages. This event creates a festival atmosphere on S. Potomac Street and includes everything from trick-or- treating at downtown businesses to costume contests, arts-and-crafts activities, music, games, and pumpkin carving.

NOVEMBER

Holly Fest | The Maryland Theatre | November 17, 2023 | 7:00pm
Holly Fest is an annual holiday themed event held at The Maryland Theatre. This event is free and open to the public and features youth performances from local musical groups and dance studios.

Ice Skating | November 18 | 12pm – 4pm
Ice Skating transforms a space into an outdoor ice skating rink! Participants can either rent or bring their own ice skates and enjoy a festive wintry experience. Location TBA.

Tree Lighting Ceremony | Public Square | November 18 | 5pm – 6pm
The Downtown Tree Lighting ceremony marks the beginning of the holiday season in Downtown Hagerstown! Community members enjoy a free performance from a local student band and witness the official lighting of Hagerstown's tree.
