Community Polled to Pick Final Free Film of the Season at City Park

The people’s pick is in, and the film title receiving the majority of votes (22%) that will be showing this Friday, July 22, 2016 at dusk at the Peter Buy’s Band Shell in Hagerstown City Park is:  “Inside Out” (PG).

For one month, the City of Hagerstown’s Parks & Recreation Division collected survey results asking website visitors which movie they would like to see the last night of the Summer Outdoor Movies Series in 2016. Over 460 people responded to the survey. With 101 votes, the winning title is “Inside Out,” the new PIXAR animated film about a happy 11-year-old girl whose world turns upside-down for reasons outside of her control in a unique story about the emotions that guide her through her journey.

The second ranking title was “Jurassic World” with 20% of the votes, followed by “The Good Dinosaur” with 19%. Next in rank was “The Goonies” with 17%, then the “Wizard of Oz” with 16% of votes. Folks were also able to freely enter a response if they had another movie title they prefer to see. “This allows us to get some ideas for movies we will show next year,” says Amy Riley, Recreation Services Coordinator for the City of Hagerstown’s Parks & Recreation Division.

The movie begins at dusk, about 8:30 p.m. Prior to the movie, stop by the Parks & Recreation welcome table to join our mailing list and sign up for a chance to win free giveaways, including movie passes to Leitersburg Cinemas, a gift card to Market Square Café, and more! Once you are here, you may discover Pokemon all over the park! Hagerstown City Park is home to some rare Pokemon like Pikachu, Dratini, and Slowpoke! Before the movie on July 22nd, come out to one of the most popular PokeStops in the City, the Peter Buys Band Shell, and set up some lures, contest for control of the gym there, and maybe make a new friend or two along the way!

Movie-goers are encouraged to bring their own lawn chair or blanket for preferred comfortable seating; City Park Band Shell’s permanent outdoor seating comfortably accommodates about 250 adults. Get there early to select your seat, we are expecting a lot of people to attend and much fun to be had by everyone!
