Wastewater from the collection system enters the WWTP at the Headworks and flows by gravity to the primary clarifiers. The objective of primary treatment is to separate settleable and floatable materials in the waste stream. Primary treatment removes approximately 60 percent of the suspended solids and 30 percent of the biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) in the influent flow.
