This unit comprises civilian volunteers whose responsibility is to respond to and provide traffic control at the scene of accidents and fires within the City limits. The unit is also responsible for preparing its own budgetary needs and maintaining administrative records relative to the operation of the unit.

Although the members of the unit are volunteers, the Police Department supplies them with equipment such as uniforms, radios, flashlights, flares, etc.
