Criminal Investigation Division
The primary responsibilities of CID are to conduct follow-up investigations criminal activity originally reported to the Uniform Patrol Division. Detectives also initiate
in-depth investigations which require investigative time or expertise beyond the scope of the Uniform Patrol Division. They routinely conduct crime scene analysis, collect and
preserve evidence, and obtain statements from witnesses and suspects. The Criminal Investigation Division also provides assistance to and coordinates activities with other
investigative agencies outside the Department. Since CID's main function is related to crimes that have already been committed, its primary goals are the arrest and prosecution
of criminal violators and the return of stolen property.
