Child Identification Program
In 1997 the Hagerstown City Police Department, in conjunction with area businesses, established the Child Identification Program. Through this program vital information is collected on children ages twelve and under. Information such as physical description (height, weight, hair & eye color, etc) along with a still photo and a one minute video clip are collected. This information is then stored in a database at the police department. Should a need arise in the future, this information can be accessed and made available as necessary. The child is fingerprinted at this time. The fingerprint card is given to the parent for safe keeping.
