The City contracted with Environmental Resources Management (ERM, based in Annapolis, Maryland) to prepare an update to the 1997 Comprehensive Plan. The Planning Commission hosted an initial kick-off meeting with local stakeholders on April 27, 2005. Key issues were identified and have been developed further in additional meetings with the Planning Commission. ERM presented a progress report to the City Council on November 29, 2005. The initial Draft of the Plan was under review for much of 2006 and 2007. The Planning Commission forwarded the final draft to the Mayor and Council in Oct. 2007. The Final Plan is scheduled for adoption by the Mayor & Council in early 2008. A copy of the plan can also be reviewed at the Business and Government Information Center, Western Maryland Room in the Washington County Free Library.
