Hagerstown Home Store

Provides homebuyer education, information, and housing advisory services all under one roof. The Hagerstown Home Store has free homeowner workshops, information on mortgage lenders, residential property listings, Realtor information, special financing programs and much more! Housing Authority

Quality low-cost rental housing is available for qualifying families who wish to live in the City of Hagerstown.  Families may choose to live in one of the Authority's 10 communities or live in private rental housing under the Section 8 Program. Programs are available to assist and encourage families to move toward self-sufficiency.  The Housing Authority has been rated as an outstanding performer by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and lives up to its reputation by providing customer-friendly "quality" services.  Stop by the Central Office at 35 West Baltimore Street, or call 301-733-6911.

Homeownership

The City has a program designed to assist low-moderate income home buyers purchase their own home for only $500 down. There are also State and local financing programs available to qualified buyers and other local organizations that can help people with the chance to become homeowners.

Housing Rehabilitation

The City of Hagerstown administers the State of Maryland Housing Rehabilitation Program (MHRP) which makes home improvement loans available to qualified applicants. The City also has Emergency Repair Grants available to low-moderate income households that are in need repairs that are life threatening and prohibit living in decent, safe, and sanitary conditions.
