What is the Emergency Repair Program?

The City of Hagerstown has emergency repair grants available to meet the immediate needs of income qualified home owners that need emergency home repairs.

Who is Eligible?

You may qualify for the Emergency Repair Program if you:

  • Own a property within the City of Hagerstown.
  • Meet HUD's income guidelines (see below);

5 persons $55,400
6 persons $59,500
7 persons $63,600
8 persons $67,700

What are Eligible Repairs?

Emergency repairs are defined as a life threatening situation or when it prohibits someone from living in a decent, safe, and sanitary condition. Some examples of emergency repairs include:

  • Water heater quit working.
  • Broken water pipes.
  • Furnace problems.
  • Structural failure.

What Else do I Need to Know?

  • There are no application fees.
  • Income verification will be required.
  • Maximum grant amount is $1500.00.
