Department of Engineering & Code Administration
FAQ
Q. How can I get on the City's Bid List?
A. There is no formal application to be submitted, however, a letter of interest stating the services and/or products you provide will suffice. Product line cards, company brochures, and other valuable information can be attached to your letter of interest. These letters are retained on file and are reviewed at the time of any applicable bid.
The Department of Engineering bids all work related to capital projects related to parks, streets, public buildings, bridges, storm water management, traffic, and trash collection. The Water and Sewer Departments bid their own projects.
Q. How do I know when the City is putting out a bid for products or services?
A. We maintain an up-to-date listing of current Department of Engineering's Request For Proposal (RFP) or Invitation For Bid (IFB) on the City website. In addition, the our Department normally advertises in several publications which include: Dodge Reports, Reed Construction Data, McGraw-Hill, CDC News, Maryland's "emarketplace", and in the Herald Mail newspaper (generally in Friday's classified section).
