To construct a multi-use trail linking City Park and the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts with the Arts & Entertainment District and to add 31 new townhomes and 85 loft apartments along the trail over a 10 year period.
Construction of Phase 1 of the Trail is set to begin in April 2016 with a completion date in Fall 2016.
Implementation of Phase 1 Art Plan is scheduled to begin in Summer 2016.
Negotiations with property owners along the proposed trail were completed in late 2015 to early 2016 with plats processed through the Engineering and Planning offices.
Hagerstown Cultural Trail branding and signage finalized by graphics firm and the contract to manufacture the designs was awarded on February 23rd, 2016.
A public input session was facilitated by the City’s public art consultant, Cochran Studio on January 11th, 2016. Cochran Studio presented the Public Art Master Plan to the Mayor and City Council on February 16th, 2016 and the proposal was accepted by the Mayor and City Council on February 23rd. Funding to implement Phase 1 of the plan was also approved by the Mayor and City Council on February 23rd.
In October 2014 about 25 community members walked the proposed trail path and provided ideas for different features along the trail.
