National Public Works Week May 21 - 27, 2017

Public Works Week Banner
Public Works (noun): Projects that the government builds and maintains that specifically benefit the public.

In 1960 the American Public Works Association (APWA) designated the 3rd full week of May as “Public Works Week”. This campaign was instituted as a public education tool to raise awareness to the work of Public Works Departments throughout North America. This year the APWA has selected “Public Works Connects Us” as its theme. It speaks to the essential nature of public works services in support of everyday quality of life. Throughout this week, activities are taking place across the country to celebrate the dedication and commitment of public works professionals.

In the City of Hagerstown we are able to have safe, clean and attractive buildings, roadways and street infrastructure “Because of Public Works…” Public Works professionals are a diverse group who are clearly at the forefront of the services that we offer to our community. We invite you to celebrate with us by getting more familiar with what we do.
